Scientists at the University of Florida are researching the effectiveness of using a child's own umbilical cord blood (saved at birth) to reverse diabetes developed later in life. The preliminary results are promising, according to Dr. Desmond Schatz, medical director of the UF Diabetes Center for Excellence at the University of Florida.
